Thank you for making the first step to creating your amazing smile!

Dr. Bret Freedman founded Village Orthodontics to provide first-class orthodontic treatment to the residents of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, Norcross and the surrounding communities.  From the moment you walk into the office, our desire is to make you feel at home in a warm and comfortable environment.   The office, located in the heart of Dunwoody Village, is designed to allow maximum patient comfort and patient privacy.

It is Dr. Bret and the experienced employee's desire to provide orthodontic services using the latest and most advanced dental technology to consistently provide superior treatment.  Whether you have a functional issue or just want to improve the alignment of your teeth and smile the orthodontic care provided by Village Orthodontics can and will make you more confident about your smile.

Dr. Bret wants your experience at Village Orthodontics to be so sublime that he has built the office from the ground up, literally, with your comfort in mind.   We were even so upset by the unoriginal orthodontic website companies which almost all orthodontists use, that Dr. Bret learned how to create this website so that your first experience online or impression would be truly unique.  The same is true about our chat with us option - when you chat with us you are really chatting with us- not like almost all other orthodontists- who outsource it to a 3rd party - look for orthochats at the bottom of most others- a tall tell sign you are not likely talking to someone in the office.  Orthochats calls prospective patients leads and charges per "lead", not to worry at Village Orthodontics- you will never be referred to as a lead in our office, but instead you are our patient and hopefully our friend.

Just like our desire to provide this original one of a kind - non-templated- website, Dr. Freedman will always treat you as an individual with your specific treatment goals in mind.  Village Orthodontics specializes ONLY in Orthodontic Treatment including Braces and Invisalign.   Unlike many large "corporate" dental offices like Family Orthodontics, Great Expressions, Kool Smiles, Aspen Dental, and other Dental Service Organizations (DSO's) where "bonuses for quotas are commonplace"  something like this will never, ever happen at Village Ortho.

Your treatment will only be provided by Dr. Bret- which is important as it has been studied that when multiple Orthodontists, even when from the same practice, treat a patient- the total time the braces will need to be worn is longer. You will also never have to worry about your orthodontist changing or leaving during the middle of your treatment, which is a story I hear quite a lot these days.   We will treat your family like our family and give you the treatment advice that will benefit YOU the most.  Dr. Bret was an orthodontic resident years ago and taught at Vanderbilt Medical Center and fully is aware first hand the issues that arise when multiple doctors follow the same patient. Most orthodontists may get from point A to point Z but the route is often very different.  The worst thing would be to have your treatment run like a game of shoots and ladders- 2 steps forward, 3 steps back.  - Never at the Village.

We want you to be happy and excited about your orthodontic treatment throughout the process - so much that you will want to refer your friends and family to us and will have no reservations they will love us as much as you do.

Dr. Bret Freedman

Orthodontist

Dr. Bret Freedman, grew up in Sandy Springs, right down the street from Village Orthodontics. Dr. Bret graduated summa cum laude from Woodward Academy where he attended middle and high school. After spending the majority of his life in the South, he decided to move north to attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. At Michigan, Dr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a premed focus, because he knew that in his heart he wanted to follow the career path of his father and grandfather in the dental specialty.

This decision led him to the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2008 and graduated at the top of his class.

Throughout the course of his dental training, Dr. Freedman received many awards for his clinical and scholastic achievements including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Cert. of Recognition, American Academy of Periodontology Award, and the James C Hickey Memorial Scholarship.

He received his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate from Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  Vanderbilt’s rigorous training provided Dr. Freedman with the highest level of knowledge and clinical expertise in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and dental sleep medicine. Dr. Freedman served five years as a part-time clinical assistant faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Division of Orthodontics.  He has also been selected to teach at a new Orthodontic Residency in Nashville Tennessee that will be filling the spot for Vanderbilt's shuttered residency.

Dr. Freedman has completed the written portion of the American Board of Orthodontics Exam to become board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is Invisalign® Certified. He is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Georgia Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and a former member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Bret loves tinkering in all things that are technology - which is why the office - let's face it is super high tech, maybe a little geeky, too.  He is often asked by orthodontic and dental companies to tests products, give insights and advice about these products and give advice on dental products on an ongoing basis.  He can often be seen roaming around the Dunwoody area with wife Amy and 3 children Hannah, Jonah, and Leah.

What sets us apart

You don't know what you don't know

Before founding Village Orthodontics in 2017, Dr. Freedman worked for a large orthodontic group practice in Georgia for 9 years, during this time he successfully treated over 800 -1200 new patients a year and a total of over 10,000 patients.  This gave Dr. Freedman a unique perspective and advantage compared to most orthodontists who average 200-250 new patients in a year.  By treating over 4x the number of patients a year Dr. Freedman versus the average Orthodontist, Dr. Freedman gained the experience of treating almost every type of patient countless times, and knows to to successfully treat any condition that faces him efficiently and effectively.

While that experience was great, it came with a price.  Dr. Freedman was not able to spend the time that he wanted to with his patients and was not able to be in the same location more that one time per week.  Its not uncommon for an orthodontist has a schedule of 80-140 patients a day, leaving only 2-3 minutes to spend with a patient, and often it is less than this, as new patients and patients getting their braces on and off require significantly more of the doctor's time.  Also when an office is only open to patients 1 day a week, the schedule fills up quickly and often leads to headaches for the patients trying to make an appointment.  They are at the mercy of the open appointments on the 1 day the office is scheduling.

Village Orthodontics, was started with a uniquely different model.  To Dr. Freedman, a 3rd generation dentist, it was simple, make the patient the focus of the practice.  To achieve this goal Village Orthodontics provides both before and after school appointments and additionally the office is open to patients on Saturdays.  Some offices also only "see patients" one or two days a week- this is code that the orthodontist is at a different location - limiting the number of days of the week patients can make an appointments.  For the patients this leads to super busy days of treating 80+ patients and patients and parents often feel like they are in an orthodontic "FACTORY"  Dr. Freedman believes that the office should not be limited to specific "patient days" and office days.  By combining these philosophies along with his love of actually working on the patients himself, he is able to provide orthodontic treatment and a fair price and provide one on one treatment for patients.  This combined with giving back to the community that supports Village Orthodontics creates a strong and passionate patient / doctor relationship that Dr. Freedman strives daily to achieve.   You can listen to a podcast from Dr. Freedman explaining Village Orthodontics and learn a little more about him from What's Up Dunwoody.

Important questions to ask an orthodontic office before making a consultation appointment:

1.  How many days is the Orthodontist in the office per week?

2.  What are the hours of the office when the orthodontist is there and patients are seen?

3.  If I am in pain after hours, will the Orthodontist come in and see me or a dental assistant?

4.  Do the braces need to be paid off before the Orthodontist will remove the braces if the treatment is complete?

5.  Are the retainers included in the price or is there a ballon payment for the retainers at the end of treatment?

6.  Is a permanent (aka fixed) retainer included as part of the treatment or even an option?

7.  Does the Orthodontist own the practice or is the practice managed or owned by a corporation or 3rd party?
