Not All Orthodontic Offices Are Created Equal
About Village Orthodontics
Dr. Bret Freedman founded Village Orthodontics in order to provide first-class orthodontic treatment to the residents of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Alpharetta, Norcross, Johns Creek and the surrounding communities.
The office, located in the heart of Dunwoody Village, is designed to allow for maximum patient comfort, privacy, and superior treatment results. Our patients will be provided with orthodontic services using the latest and most advanced dental technology.
Different by Design
Before founding Village Orthodontics in 2017, Dr. Freedman worked for a large orthodontic group practice in Georgia for 7 years, during this time he successfully treated over 800 new patients a year and a total of over 5500 patients. This gave Dr. Freedman a unique perspective and advantage compared to most orthodontists who average 200-250 new patients in a year. By treating 4x the number of patients a year Dr. Freedman versus the average Orthodontist, Dr. Freedman gained the experience of treating almost every type of patient countless times, and knows to to successfully treat any condition that faces him efficiently and effectively.
While that experience was great, it came with a price. Dr. Freedman was not able to spend the time that he wanted to with his patients and was not able to be in the same location more that one time per week. Its not uncommon for an orthodontist has a schedule of 80-140 patients a day, leaving only 2-3 minutes to spend with a patient, and often it is less than this, as new patients and patients getting their braces on and off require significantly more of the doctor's time. Also when an office is only open to patients 1 day a week, the schedule fills up quickly and often leads to headaches for the patients trying to make an appointment. They are at the mercy of the open appointments on the 1 day the office is scheduling.
Village Orthodontics, was started with a uniquely different model. To Dr. Freedman, a 3rd generation dentist, it was simple, make the patient the focus of the practice. To achieve this goal Village Orthodontics provides both before and after school appointments and additionally the office is open to patients on Saturdays. Some offices also only "see patients" one or two days a week- this is code that the orthodontist is at a different location - limiting the number of days of the week patients can make an appointments. For the patients this leads to super busy days of treating 80+ patients and patients and parents often feel like they are in an orthodontic "FACTORY" Dr. Freedman believes that the office should not be limited to specific "patient days" and office days. By combining these philosophies along with his love of actually working on the patients himself, he is able to provide orthodontic treatment and a fair price and provide one on one treatment for patients. This combined with giving back to the community that supports Village Orthodontics creates a strong and passionate patient / doctor relationship that Dr. Freedman strives daily to achieve. Important questions to ask an orthodontic office before making a consultation appointment:
1. How many days is the Orthodontist in the office per week?
2. What are the hours of the office when the orthodontist is there and patients are seen?
3. If I am in pain after hours, will the Orthodontist come in and see me or a dental assistant?
4. Do the braces need to be paid off before the Orthodontist will remove the braces if the treatment is complete?
5. Are the retainers included in the price or is there a ballon payment for the retainers at the end of treatment?
6. Is a permanent (aka fixed) retainer included as part of the treatment or even an option?
7. Does the Orthodontist own the practice or is the practice managed or owned by a corporation or 3rd party?

Dr. Bret Freedman
Orthodontist
Dr. Bret Freedman, grew up in Sandy Springs, right down the street from Village Orthodontics. Dr. Bret graduated summa cum laude from Woodward Academy where he attended middle and high school. After spending the majority of his life in the South, he decided to move north to attend the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. At Michigan, Dr. Freedman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a premed focus, because he knew that in his heart he wanted to follow the career path of his father and grandfather in the dental specialty.
This decision led him to the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2008 and graduated at the top of his class.
He received his Orthodontic Specialty Certificate from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Vanderbilt’s rigorous training provided Dr. Freedman with the highest level of knowledge and clinical expertise in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics and dental sleep medicine. Dr. Freedman served as a part-time clinical assistant faculty member at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Division of Orthodontics.
Dr. Freedman has completed the written portion of the American Board of Orthodontics Exam to become board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and is Invisalign® Certified.
